More than a Sponsored Marathon

Hello, I am Karen, I am 40 years old, live in Lingfield, Surrey, and have been suffering from Fibromyalgia for 17 years. I worked as a hairdresser and was initially diagnosed as having RSI, but it became worse and worse as time went by until I had to give up the job that I loved. The pain is now throughout my entire body and I have renamed the illness “Voodoomyalgia”
However, I stay positive with the help of my husband who recently decided to do something slightly crazy for the charity, namely to walk from work in the City of London to our home, with the encouragement of his workmates. On the day after the AGM (7th November), he started walking from the City to home, a distance of some 28 miles. In so doing, he raised an incredible £1,138 for FMSSAS!
Now he knows what it feels like to be in pain from head to foot. I am very proud of him and thank him for his constant support and encouragement.
On behalf of everyone in the Group, we offer grateful thanks to Russell Hannaford for going to such lengths and persuading sponsors to give him so much money to help us in our work for fibromyalgia sufferers, and of course to Karen for inspiring him to undertake the walk.
