Saxon Weald Presentation
Saxon Weald, based in Horsham, is a social business, as well as a registered charity. Its purpose is to improve quality of life for their customers and neighbourhoods. It takes a positive, pro-active approach to helping meet local housing needs and its development team works hard to ensure that it maximises opportunities.
Not only does Saxon Weald own and manage over 5000 homes throughout Sussex and Hampshire but their benevolent ethic extends to helping charities in the Horsham area. Each year somewhere in the region of £10,000 is donated to worthy causes.
On 23rd March 2009, Frances Bryan our Fundraising officer (who had made the application for the grant) and Stella Bernardi the Webmistress attended the presentation ceremony at the YMCA (Y Centre) in Horsham.
48 application forms had been sent out, 21 were returned and the selecton was made by a Tenants’ panel of 8 judges. Twelve charities benefitted with donations ranging from £500 to £1000. FMS SAS were the recipients of £850 which will cover office expenses for about three months. The presentation was made by Robin Charter, the Chairman, and Frances received the cheque on behalf of the Support Group.

Refreshments were served after the presentation and the Chairman posed with Frances for a front view photograph!

Saxon Weald understand the need to provide the “overheads” rather than the “equipment". They want to help and sustain community activities linked to social or financial inclusion and support. All age groups benefitted from Saxon Weald's benevolence, from children to the elderly, so there were some very happy volunteers going home with cheques to enable them to carry out their varying projects and meet ongoing expenses. We are most grateful for Saxon Weald's generosity.
