Report on Guy's Support Group Meeting
15th July
The first monthly meeting was very well attended, over 30 people plus family members, all so pleased to have somewhere to go - to be heard and also have information about fibro.
Dee Cobley spoke on the Tried and Tested project.
Patsy Baker spoke about the purpose of the Guys group and what are the plans for the future. Also after Daniel Austin, a talk about how to fill in a DLA form and to ask for help before you need to go for appeal!
Daniel Austin spoke about the amazing developments going on at Guys Fibro Clinic - the speed and way it is growing with the help of Drs Patrick Wood and Andrew Holman. The new developments in treatment for spinal cord compression and what other programs are coming into place for fibromites in the Autumn.
There are several new drug trials in place - three at Guys - one in Seattle with some very exciting progress reports. We have climbed the Hill. We are not far off being treated quickly and properly. We have to educate the GPs and keep the pressure on at the House of Commons.
