Invitation to Charity Launch
from Clare Palmer
See Report of Event at the bottom of the page
As some of you are aware we are in the process of setting up a new
charity, 'Research For Life'.
The charity's aims are to raise awareness and funds in certain areas
including:
Diseases of the central nervous system (such as Fibro, M.E., depression,
spinal cord injury, Alzheimer's disease, chorea)
Diseases of the body (including diabetes, cardiovascular disease and
cancer)
Psychotic disorders
Infectious diseases
Nutrition
Obesity
Development of new diagnostic and therapeutic interventions
The relief of sickness and the preservation of health.
Initially some of the funds will be to support cutting edge biological
research, of the type we want to see take place, into fibro and M.E.; as I
know you are aware the funds for such research are incredibly limited. As
well as raising funds, (which will I hope means a new study either at the
end of the year or very beginning of 2010 for M.E., fibro), the charity
will be raising awareness of the relevant illnesses and I will be
organising talks around the country. They will be with a variety of very
knowledgeable speakers and the topics will vary depending on the group.
The idea is, the more talks we provide, the more awareness we raise and in
effect, the more money we raise and so the Research can be targeted
towards EFFECTIVE treatments.
I am holding a Charity Launch Party on Sunday 6th September 2009. (This
will in the future be our Official Awareness Day.) It is a Garden Party
with a live Jazz Band. Gates open at 2pm and the afternoon will finish at
6pm. Tickets are £6 per person. There will be drinks and Cream Teas
available to buy throughout the afternoon.
I would absolutely love to offer everyone Free Entry but of course it is a
Charity Event and unfortunately just not possible. I am, however, able to
offer 20 complimentary tickets on a first come first served basis.
If you would like a ticket please feel free to contact me at
clare.palmer@researchforlife.co.uk.
The venue for the Garden Party is:

Further Message from Clare
Firstly I'd like to say a huge thank you to you all for all your support and kind messages, it means a great deal to me!
As you all know, Research For Life is holding a Garden Party on Sunday 6th September. The aim is to raise awareness about the cause and also money to get us started towards our first objective................a Fibro/M.E. Study.
I am writing to ask if any of you have any items you would be willing to donate to the day, it doesn't matter how big or small.
I need items for:
Tombola, i.e. bubble bath, cosmetics, candles, soft toys
Raffle , bottles, chocolates, hampers, etc
Bigger items for an auction
ALL help and donations are extremely gratefully received, and literally everything, however big or small will make a difference.
If you are able to donate please message me, I am more than happy to collect.
Many thanks again
Hope to see lots of you there on the 6th

Report on the Launch Event
The Research For Life Launch was a great success. Over 80 people enjoyed
an afternoon of Jazz at the beautiful surroundings of the Butlers
Farmhouse Garden in Herstmonceux, East Sussex.
The net sum of cash, cheques and pledged donations reached £850.
There have been enough goodies / materials left over to enable us to raise
extra funds at future events. The next event will take place on Sunday
20th of September. Research For Life will also be holding another Fund
Raising Evening before the end of the year.
It is expected that these events will generate enough funds
to enable the RFL Charitable Trust to have enough money required to enable
it to achieve its Charity Status.
I would like to offer my personal thanks to everyone who worked so hard
and contributed to the success of the Launch.
Kindest Regards
Clare Palmer
