I have finally found happiness!
by Stephanie Stephens
Hello, my name is Stephanie. Some of you already know me from the Crawley Fibro meetings.
By the time this is published, it will be almost a year since I was married to my lovely husband, John. He helped me get through voluntary bankruptcy proceedings and a subsequent Industrial Tribunal case brought for discrimination at work.
I no longer work, but I do help other disabled people voluntarily, whenever I can. I am so lucky to have such a good man beside me now. He looks after me and no matter what else is going on, he is there for me.
(Yes, good news at last) After years of adversity, I have finally found happiness! Together with our friends and families, we enjoyed a wonderful wedding on 14th. June at St. Andrew's church in Furnace Green, Crawley followed by a reception held in the nearby Community Centre. My four year old grand-daughter, Felicity acted as my bridesmaid and I made her dress as well as my own wedding dress.
In September I took delivery of my car through the excellent Motability scheme set up by the Labour Government to assist disabled people. I never dreamt in all of my life that I would walk into a car showroom and later drive away in a brand new hatch-back car! It was always just a dream of mine. The car is worth its weight in gold as my legs get so painful now and I cannot walk a lot.
I have always had a wonderful family behind me, but how lucky I am at this time in life to also be blessed with my very special husband, John.
