Thyroid "Guidelines"
URGENT message from Lynn Mynott

You may not be aware of the joint statement of The Royal College of Physicians, in particular its Patient and Carer Network and the Joint Specialty Committee for Endocrinology & Diabetes; The Association for Clinical Biochemistry; The Society for Endocrinology; The British Thyroid Association.

The British Thyroid Foundation Patient Support Group; The British Society of Paediatric Endocrinology; and Diabetes and Endorsed by the Royal College of General Practitioners so I am providing it here.

Thyroid UK is very angry about this statement as it is causing great harm to a great many patients.  Here is our response to the statement and a copy of the letter received from the Royal College of Physicians, here.

We now have until the 14th April to make any further comments or ask any further questions.

We believe that they should be aware of exactly how many patients are unhappy about this statement so please write to them and let them know.  Send us copies so that we can collate them and take them with us if they allow us to meet with them.

Help us to put a stop to this over-riding of patients’ choice!

  Best wishes,
Lyn Mynott,
Chair/Chief Executive
