Horsham's Best Awards

Horsham's Best Awards is a joint venture between the County Times Newspaper and Horsham District Council. In an effort to emphasize the positive aspect of life in the Horsham District - as opposed to the 'bad news' so often reported in newspapers - it was decided to offer Awards for the various 'Best' categories. This is the third year of the Awards. The general public was invited to make nominations for the various categories which were:

• The Best Place

• The Best Person

• The Best Community Organisation

• and new this year - The Best Young Person

In a ceremony at the Horsham District Council Chambers on 10th May Jean Burnham, Chairman of the Council, presented certificates, not only to the winners but also to those who were Highly Commended and those who were Shortlisted. Jo and I attended the presentation ceremony and collected THREE Awards between us on behalf of the Fibro Group. Jo was Highly Commended, and I was Shortlisted for The Best Person category. Jo also collected a Highly Commended certificate for The Best Community Organisation. This was a great honour for us.
It was a privilege to have been there and wonderful to witness so many people being honoured for their contributions to the life of the local community in many differing ways.
