Best IT Volunteering Project – Accessibility – Finalist

On 28th November Jo Fisher, Founder and Development Officer of the Fibromyalgia Support Group for Surrey and Sussex, together with Stella Bernardi, Trustee and Webmistress, attended the Presentation ceremony of the IT Volunteer Awards at the Worshipful Company of Information Technologists Hall, Barbican, London. Stella who has designed and created this website had been entered for the IT Volunteer Awards. There were various categories and Stella was the runner-up in the Accessibility class. Both she and Jo, (on behalf of the charity) received framed certificates.
The competition was organised jointly by iT4Communities and ictHub which both encourage IT professionals to help charities with IT projects.
The event was introduced by David Edwards (The Worshipful Company of Information Technologists – Operations Director)
A welcome was made by Colin Knight – (The Master of The Worshipful Company of Information Technologists)
An address was given by Tom Ilube, Chief Executive Officer of Garlik (www.garlik.com) who also works voluntarily with children in Lambeth.
The presentation of the awards was made by David Morris who was the 2005 President of the British Computer Society, BCS.
David Edwards closed the proceedings thanking all for coming. Drinks and a buffet were served to all those assembled during which time networking with the other finalists was achieved.
