All you need to know about the Patient Advice Liaison Service (PALS)As a patient, relative or carer, you may not always know where to go for help, information, advice and support. It can be worrying and confusing when you or someone you know is unwell, and this is where the Patient Advice and Liaison Service * or 'PALS' * can help. PALS is free, impartial and confidential, and provides a listening ear for anyone who needs help, information or support, or who may have a concern about the NHS care they or their family are receiving. The key message is that PALS is not about complaints; it's about trying to sort things out informally and quickly, before issues become complaints. PALS staff will listen to patients' concerns with the aim of finding a speedy resolution to problems. In addition, PALS can help patients, their relatives or carers with information about NHS services. Every trust has a PALS service, which is usually available Monday to Friday from 10am * 4pm (some are available 9am - 5pm).
