The Polkadotgals
A dynanamic, enthusiastic group of young women who are campaigning in various ways to raise awareness of fibromyalgia. Bianca Embley has launched the POLKADOTGALS campaign. It is being supported by model Danni Wells; championship 100m hurdler Sara McGreavey; David Carr, America's Cup sailor, and Coventry City footballers, who will all be featured in the PolkaDotGals calendar for 2009 which you can preview here.
The Gals are also involved with the All Party Parliamentary Group (APPG), minutes of which can be seen here.
Another girl helping out with PolkaDotGals Campaign is Lindsey Middlemiss. In explaining why she is so passionate about raising awareness, Lindsey says:
“So many people suffer from this awful illness and yet hardly anyone has ever heard of it. Due to lack of awareness I became severely ill with Fibromyalgia through getting no real treatment: I am now managing the condition with the help of a private specialist. If awareness of the condition and how to treat it had been better when I first got sick, I might never have had to give up my dreams of working in professional yacht racing. And I am one of the lucky ones as I managed to finally get treatment: many people never do.”
