“SOMETIMES THEY COME BACK”
SKIFFLE BAND
(from Fibromyalgia Focus Oct-Dec 2008)
Sometimes They Come Back are a dynamic, high-energy skiffle band based in Sussex. Inspired by the raw energy and excitement of 1950s skiffle music as pioneered by the late, great Lonnie Donegan, the band’s members combine this with other styles and flavourings from their respective backgrounds, including blues, rock & roll, and even bluegrass, to create a sound that is both unique and yet instantly recognisable as having that exciting “skiffle” sensibility. Instrumentally, the band blend stock skiffle instruments such as the acoustic guitar, washboard and the inimitable tea chest bass with new and exciting sounds from the harmonica and bluegrass mandolin, as well as a variety of percussion instruments, to create a sound that is percussive, energetic and driving, yet still with great melodic qualities and engaging vocal harmonies.
Having played extensively across the South with their current line-up for over two years, the band have fast established a reputation as a first-class live act, and are increasingly sought-after for performances at clubs, concerts, private functions, dances, charity events, in fact anywhere where there’s live music.

The band are particularly proud of some of the performances they have given in aid of various charitable causes, notably playing a key role in two successive annual fundraising events staged for Fibromyalgia Awareness Day. At the most recent event, which was staged at the Holmbush Centre, Shoreham [this picture was taken at the event], the band succeeded in attracting a large crowd of onlookers, resulting in a number of donations to the event’s collecting tin.
Percussive, high-energy, and with emphasis placed firmly on entertainment value and audience satisfaction, "Sometimes They Come Back" are available for a variety of live engagements. For availability and more details, phone 01903 879948.
